Psalm 15

Requirements or character traits for ones who may dwell in the Lord’s Sanctuary  based on Psalm 15

Psalms 15:1-5 (NLT)
1 Who may worship in your sanctuary, Lord? Who may enter your presence on your holy hill?
2 Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right, speaking the truth from sincere hearts.
3 Those who refuse to gossip or harm their neighbors or speak evil of their friends.
4 Those who despise flagrant sinners, and honor the faithful followers of the Lord, and keep their promises even when it hurts.
5 Those who lend money without charging interest, and who cannot be bribed to lie about the innocent. Such people will stand firm forever.

A  Person

  • Whose walk is blameless – spotless, unblemished,  guiltless, upright  – ways are upright
  • Who desire righteousness -  blameless, honest, upright,  just
  • Who speaks the truth that comes from his heart – honest, truth, guileless

Based on the above 3 bullet points we come to an understanding that when we walk, when we do and the when we speak, we ought to be spotless, blameless and honest.  That’s a difficult challenge in today’s world,Where we cannot trust anyone.  Because we are children of the living God, we are commanded and instructed to obey them.

  • Has no slander/insult on his tongue
  • Who does no harm/wrong to his neighbor
  • Who does not insult/disgrace another human being(known/unknown person)

We learn about not to use bad/slang words.  If we look deeper into it, When God created human being, he created all of us alike. So, if you are used to speaking bad/words or if your insulting others consider the other person also has been made in God’s image. Let’s be mindful of what we speak. Our words should be filled with grace and that when others listen to us, they need to understand that God dwells in us.  Also Bible clearly says that “Love your neighbor as yourself”  if we obey that command, we will do no harm to our neighbors, nor would disgrace any other human being. As we all are formed in HIS(God’s) likeness.  So be mindful, when we speak to others, we are talking to someone whom God created in His image, not to harm nor insult him/her. But to love as yourself.

  • Who lends money without usury – usury means “exorbitant interest”
  • Who do not accept bribe against the innocent – naïve or blameless person

Lending money for a good reason without usury or for for those in need is what we may need to practice. We notice that people are becoming more selfish and greedy towards money. Let’s not fall into the same category as the world does, but be wise in using money in the right way. Also following verse talks about not to accept bribe against the innocent. What good does it bring to accept bribe against the innocent.  Remember one day we are answerable to God, for everything we do on this earth.

  • Who hates wicked person
  • Who honors those who fear Lord
  • Who keeps his/her oath even when they are hurt

There is no good in a wicked person. His/her thoughts, deeds and actions are to be disliked. And it is so obvious that such person will be hated.

If we fear the Lord, no matter if the other person hurts us, because of the fear for the Lord in us, we still continue to love that person and keeps up the oath whatever was made.  We need to honor such person who has that fear and who also exhibits the beautiful nature of keepingup his oath even though he’s hurt.  It describes of a godly character.

Whoever follows all that described above will never be shaken/moved but will dwell in the Lord’s holy hill and His Sanctuary.

Where do you stand?? Do you have any of the qualities that are described above. If not, our time on earth is too short…start thinking and implement them. Friends who are reading this blog, please come to the saving knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Believe and accept Jesus who has given His life for our sins and he will dwell in you and you will have peace.Holy Spirit which dwells in all who believe will help you posses the above character traits and will use you for God’s glory.

May God Bless You.

What does Bible say about Marriage??

Marriage is honorable in all(Heb 13:4). Marriage is a holy constitution between a man and a woman.
Two different personalities/individuals from different backgrounds are united in this holy matrimony.
Usually it takes a while for both partners to adjust. Man thinks differently than woman. So, it takes not just months but years for both to understand and adjust to other person needs.

In India, arranged marriages are the most common. Parents choose the spouse for their son or daughter. Choosing a right spouse has always been a difficult task for the parents in the past and that continues to exist.

As many see, marriage is not a bed of roses everyday of our walk. That’s a new beginning in the newly weds. Once the couple are married and have taken oath in the presence of God, bible clearly says that they are bound by the law to stay together. Ideally, only death should dissolve the marriage.(Romans7:2,3). Marriage is like a permanent bond between man and woman on this earth.

The principle ingredient for a marriage to work is love. Even if there is a slight opportunity for ego, pride, unfaithfulness or any other deceptive reasons that crops in one of the partners, marriage could be at stake. Marriage should be build on an open communication platform. Marriage is God’s idea.

Let’s talk more about it in days to come.
